Moving Day...in all ways!

Virginia Beach, Virginia
First Landing State Park

Well, today was moving day. We left our empty house back in Sag Harbor for the last time as it's homeowners. The moving company had come yesterday and in a mere 4 hours completely emptied the house of the contents we are keeping and took them away for storage until we buy a house in Florida. Then today, our family left in a caravan headed south. Al's mom and sister, our close friend, the 2 of us, the 2 dogs and the cat have all landed in Virginia Beach, Virginia for the next 5 days. We are visiting family here, and spending these last few days together before Al and I head to Kentucky to start our jobs at Amazon. The rest will head to Florida, and we will all meet again at Christmas.

We had a wonderful time spending the last 3+ weeks back in our hometown. There was a lot of fishing, a little golf, lots of visiting, and of course packing and cleaning. The weather did not co-operate for the most part, but we did get a few nice days in. It was so nice to visit with my brother and sister, who are the last of my family in the area. Al has a niece, an aunt and a few cousins still hanging in there as well. So we still have plenty of reasons to continue to visit the area.

It was hard leaving the homestead for the last time, but we are really loving this new lifestyle. I will always have a place in my heart for Sag Harbor, but I am also very excited by the opportunities waiting for me out there.

I promise that I will now return to picture taking and talking about the places we are traveling through. After all, that's what is most interesting, right? So, coming up: Virginia Beach!

  1. Wow...that visit went fast. I know about your mixed emotions. It is hard leaving the place where so many memories exist. However, as I would tell people when we moved from L.I., I am taking all my memories with me. It is great to go back and visit but I always look forward to going back home to S.C. Can't believe that we left N.Y. almost 9 years already and have no regrets. Good luck to you guys wherever the road takes you and we look forward to seeing you again in January. :-)

  2. Love First Landing State Park. For those of us who lived there for years it will always be known as Seashore. What site are you in? I think they close it in November until Spring or perhaps not any more. Be sure to do some hiking. You can go clear down the Cape Henry Trail and walk down a side street to the ocean front.

Didn't realize you were buying a house in Florida. In what area?
