Goodbye, Colorado

Best. Summer. Ever.

That about sums it up. I can't possibly say enough good things about our experience here at Chalk Creek Campground this summer.

I never tired of my view as I walked to the office each day

Our backyard was fantastic!

We saw moose,

elk,
big horn sheep,

and marmots, among assorted wildlife.

We visited Rocky Mountain National Park,

Mesa Verde National Park,

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park,

and Great Sand Dunes National Park.

We've hiked flat trails,

and not-so-flat trails!

through creeks

and dry dusty desert areas.

We had our first experience off-road jeeping

and our first rodeo.

beautiful waterfalls

and neat old western towns.

Ghost towns

and aliens!!

Anyway, I guess you get the idea :-). So many new experiences. We've never been out west before, save for a weekend years ago in Sedona and one in Las Vegas. To have the opportunity to spend the entire summer in an area rich in activities has been priceless. As is the friendships we have made here this summer. It is still amazing to me the community that comes with this lifestyle.

To our co-workers: Sandi & Joe, Jack and Joyce, Steve and Teresa: your friendship has meant the world to us this summer. To our bosses Lars and Tamara: it has been a sincere pleasure to work alongside you this summer, and to help make this campground one of the best we've ever seen. To our families: thank you for your support enabling us to live our dream. And to our readers, thanks for coming along on the journey! But its not done by a long shot.....we'll be coming to you in a few days from the Black Hills of South Dakota, as we spend a few days exploring the area and seeing the sights, before we head to Hillsboro North Dakota for our next work adventure, at the Sugarbeet Harvest :-).

  6. I second what Nancy and Bill said. It has been great to experience Colorado through your eyes. I am soooo happy that this life style change is all that you hoped it would be. Enjoy the Black Hills of South Dakota. Another truly beautiful area. Love, love, love those mountains. Bill rented a motorcycle while our stay there and toured the area. Devils tower was another spectacular sight to see.
We look forward to seeing you this winter and hearing more about your stay in the beautiful state of Colorado. Safe travels.
